What's in my trusty leather jacket? [18 Feb 2006|10:35pm]

[ mood | happy ]

This is pretty cool; a little group dedicated to what's in ones pockets.

So, for the hell of it: here's what's in my leather jacket:

(for those interested, this is an 80s style biker jacket, complete with the zippers and apaulets)

LEFT POCKET: grocery receipt (from when I bought my new steel toed boots yesterday)
INNER LEFT POCKET: my collection of used bus tickets; a pack of Excel peppermint gum; my paystub from work; two pens (one black, one blue)
RIGHT POCKET: my minidisc player; earphones; a receipt from Greyhound
INNER RIGHT POCKET: my cellphone
FRONT POCKET: another pen

I carry stuff... [11 Mar 2005|08:00pm]

I posted my bag's contents a while ago but things change... here are the latest things I'm carrying (click the photo for a version with labels)

Whats in my bag?

I've been wearing this along with my trusty pack. [14 Feb 2005|01:49am]
I've been carrying all kinds of stuff in my Carhartt Arctic Coat.

I keep my phone in one of the velcro chest pockets and the iPod in the other. If it gets too cold I move the pod to the zippered pouch inside the coat. The velcro pocket inside is large enough for a small journal, wallet, and pen. The side pockets, although not sealable, are extremely deep. You can put a liter sized bottle of water in one and jog without the bottle falling out.

The coat is extremely warm. I have the optional fur lined hood and matching Arctic Bib Overall (which also has great pockets) and can sleep in beds made of snow in subzero temps.

Hey I know no one has posted here in awhile but I like the concept of this community so I'll post what I carry. I'm just glad I'm not the only one out there that carries this much stuff with them everywhere.

In my bag:
Cell phone - Nokia
Laptop - Dell Latitude and case with my dvd/cd-r rom, cords
Sony Minidisc player - I got the new one that carries 45 hours on one disc so I only carry one disc now and earphones
My Journal - it's almost full
Izone camera
Sony Digital camera with cords
tape recorder - just in case i have an interview or want to work on one
pencil case with pens, markers, sharpies, glue, scissors, pencils, crayons - i like to doodle and stick things in my journal and date stamp to mark when i do what i do in my journal
girl scout cookies - well i'm running out of these so i'll just carry other snacks like brownies and cookies
something to drink - usually dr. pepper, orange slice, or a redbull (i rarely drink red bulls)
keys in this little blue pouch
bus schedules
flute music (I practiced at my boyfriend's house yesterday. I normally don't carry this around.)

I'm currently seeking:
a Sidekick so I won't have to carry my laptop with me everywhere. I like having internet accessable.
a backpack to carry all this. Something cheap and affordable and looks adorable and not bulky. I have a good bag but it only has one strap and hurts me.

That's all for me. I'm sure there's more but I forget.

Hello, everyone. I just joined this community. =)
My name is Steve and I live in So. Cal.
I just had a question about the i-river mp3 players.
I'm looking into buying a i-River H320 20GB mp3 player probalby tomorrow or on monday. (it's on sale and I just received a best buy gift card with 100 bucks in it! w00t). I've been wanting to buy this model for foreeevver.
I know that it has the ability to store and access digital photos but does anyone know if you can set things up so that a certain picture can be displayed while a certain song is playing?
Ex: the picture of ur favorite band when their songs are being played.
thanks for ur help.

Hola, dead community.

Just picked up this bag for gadget-friendly travel. It's pretty rad. Holds my Compaq Evo N400c with or without the drive/docking station. PDA slot. Nifty neoprene cellphone pocket. MP3 player pocket with a headphone line hole. And plenty of other pockets and space and whatnot. And all very sturdily constructed. Pretty reasonably priced, too.

Hopefully it will give the TSA fits when I hit the friendly skies in a couple of weeks.

Also, check out this thread at Engadget for more gadget bag recs.

All right here's the challenge:

I picked up this bad boy randomly in the mall the other day:

I had seen it before online so it surprised me when I bumped into it.

I love how it looks but it's slightly lacking in features. The strap is just canvas, the bag is made of some waterproof material, corduroy, and canvas (so it's a bit flimsy), and there's a bad shortage of pockets/compartments.

First of all, is there any way I can make the strap less flimsy? It collapses and just bunches up whenever I pick up my bag and I need to find some way to help it keep it's shape. I envision something like a plastic or rubber covering that I could buy or slip over it. If there is such a thing, where could I get one?

Second, is there any way to help make the bag a bit sturier so my books don't just become horizontal in my bag whenever I put them in there and so that the bag retains its shape when I pick it up? I had thought of maybe fitting some of the plastic from one of the flimsy 3-ring binders on the bottom but that definitely wouldn't be enough.

I'm guessing putting pockets on would be pretty straightforward. I also want to put a layer of fabric on the inside so that I can have a thin, large compartment in the main chamber. Hopefully.

This bag is going to kick ass

thx a lot

MP3 player? [26 Apr 2004|03:48pm]

I'm thinking about buying a personal MP3 player (for use on public transit, etc.) so I'm canvasing recommendations.

Requirements: small (pocket size); biggest capacity per $; Linux compatible (I've seen some with their own Windows-only software = no good).

Nice to haves: expandable memory; rechargable battery.

Target price range: $100-200 (Canadian).

I've seen adverts for the Rio Fuse, Samsung YP-55i and MPIO DMK, but there seems to be a lot of choice - any favourites or models to avoid?

Update: I've bought a Creative Nomad Zen Xtra 30Gb MP3 player. Thanks for your suggestions.

[ mood | thirsty ]

Hi everybody. My name is Ash, I'm 15, and I've actually been a member of this community for awhile now, I just haven't posted anything yet because I am a loser. :D But as you probably have guessed somehow, yes, I too carry stuff. :D I found this community while doing a search for bags (because yes I am a bag whore :D) so yah. :)

In school bookbag:
- pens, pencils, highlighters, sharpies, etc.
- candy :9
- CD player (has Tori Amos in there right now ^.^)
- sketchbook
- a friend and I's note notebook
- random notes and band music
- band folder
- clarinet flip folder (during marching season)
- binders and textbooks that I need

red purse:
- Blink 182 notebook
- Neopets address book
- cell phone
- camera
- Jane radiation in "Good Fairy"
- Bonne Bell lip gloss in "Dr. Pepper"
- Bonne Bell lip gloss in "Pink Lemonade"

- Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe and Naturals Lotion

green purse:
- basically the same stuff as the red one. I just use this one for school and random other stuff, and put some of the stuff from the red one in there. My red one is my baby and goes literally, everywhere. But it has some stuff that the red doesn't.

- gel pens
- wallet (I have a wallet w/ a wallet chain that I wear so this one doesn't get used as much)
- picture of Tom Riddle (don't ask... ^.^;;;)
- hair clips

- Bonne Bell lip gloss in "Lunar Lime"
- more random notes
- cough drops
- gum, candy, etc.

Maybe if I'm bored tomorrow I'll post pictures of my bags. :)

    lightweight [19 Feb 2004|02:02pm]

I'm Chrissy and I totally carry stuff.
    • 15gig iPod
    • Sony Cybershot Camera
    • t-Mobile phone
    • Sony Superslim Laptop
    • Gucci Sunglasses (sometimes, in its case)
    • a cup of an espresso-based drink
    • love notes from my hot girlfriend
    • powder base, lipstick & mascara
I try to keep my load light -- burning shoulders anger me -- so I got the smallest Sony Camera and Laptop that I could afford. I also got the lightest (and coolest looking) digital music player -- the iPod. I made sure to get some designer sunglasses so that I look cool carrying all these things. These glasses, along with my iPod and earbuds, tell people on the streets of downtown LA that I'm busy not paying attention to them.. This makes me feel good.

I also carry one credit card (with valid ID) and never cash.

    Hey, I carry stuff. Awesome.
Bestest/most expensive thing I carry would definitely be my iRiver iHP 20 gig mp3 Jukebox. Great if I want to listen to hours of music/record concerts, myself, lectures etc/read stuff. Other stuff: Cell, wallet, hemp necklace (hmm jewelry.. does that count?), and my keys with some horny squirrel keychain thing.
I want to get this messenger bag just so I can carry all my gadgets along with my books but I don't know how girly/emo/messed up looking it is haha. Tell me what you think. http://ixchel.net/details.php?category=3&viewsku=C-66

    hi there. [12 Jan 2004|09:14pm]

    [ mood | afterglow ]

Name is Kit, and I carry stuff.

First of all, I don't always carry stuff. I don't really venture too far from where the motherload of useless crap is. But, when I do, there's a lot of it. It all goes in a bag that looks a lot like this [new window]. I pile in:

    • iPod. I love my iPod so much.
    • chapstick (or rather 'lip balm,' because it's not in the form of a stick.)
    • a book or two. most recently Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell Them (Al Franken) and The Town and the City (Kerouac), but also sometimes a book of Kerouac haiku. Good reading, that.)
    • my coffee mug. It's kinda grody because I need to run it through the dishwasher, but...it'll be OK. Yeah, I drink far too much coffee for someone with my frame.
    • OS CDs. I'm not completely sure why I feel the need to carry around the install (and boot) CDs for Knoppix STD, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and the first two CDs of SUSe 8.1 Pro.
    • contact case. Been caught without it, and it's not pretty. I also usually carry...
    • eyedrops and also
    • a mini bottle of contact solution
    • spiral bound notebook
    • pens
    • sketchy container for whetever is necessary...^_=
    • keys, but they're attached at my belt loop
    • wallet, but that's in my pocket. Inside is a veritable treasure trove of little mementos...cards from restaurants, some from three or more years ago, and my favorite poems, as well as a credit card, an ID, and a probably defunct Borders Gift Certificate card that I just keep around in case. Also an extra key. No money though. Goes in painfully hip wallet that I got from an airline years and years and years ago.
    • mental picture of my boyfriend.

yep, that's about it. I'm thinking about getting an iBook too though.

Hi. I'm Shaun. I carry this stuff:

    1. Cellphone
    2. Clie
    3. iPod
    4. Digicam

And of course, wallet, knife, keys, chapstick, kleenex, and listerine pocketpak.

And it all fits in the pockets of my many pocketed, obligatory black wool jacket. But I have no idea where I'm going to put it all when it turns summer, because one belt clip is yuppie-geek-sexy, two is bulky, and three or more just screams, "No one will ever want to have sex with me."

But who needs sex when you have an iPod?
